ArmInfo. Armenia and Bulgaria intend to deepen tourism cooperation. This was reported by the Armenian Tourism Committee, citing the meeting between the head of the Committee, Anushik Avetyan, and the Deputy Minister of Tourism of Bulgaria, Mariela Modeva, which took place as part of the Global Forum on Medical Tourism in Yerevan.
In particular, the parties discussed opportunities for increasing mutual tourist flows, mutual promotion, and the implementation of new joint initiatives.
Special attention was paid to medical tourism as a new and promising area of cooperation. The parties also emphasized the importance of direct air travel between the two countries. In particular, the resumption of direct Sofia-Yerevan-Sofia flights (GullivAir) starting November 7, 2026, was discussed, creating new opportunities for developing tourism ties.
Avetyan and Modeva also emphasized the importance of continuing to maintain cooperation, sharing information about events held in the two countries, and developing business ties.
It should be noted that, according to the Statistics Committee, 1,608 tourists from Bulgaria visited Armenia in January-June, a 56.9% decrease compared to last year's figure.
It should also be noted that Hungarian airline WizzAir announced that it will launch flights from Yerevan to Varna, Bulgaria, starting June 6, 2027, operating twice weekly (Thursdays and Sundays).
