ArmInfo. Armenia has incredible human capital, and this is a huge privilege. This opinion was expressed by Remon Zakaria, Head of the Armenian Office of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), during a panel discussion held as part of the second investment forum.
Zakaria said. In this vein, he noted that it is important to understand what specifically attracts investors, and not limit ourselves to tax incentives.
Recalling that infrastructure development is the Bank's priority in Armenia, he emphasized that the state should continue to invest in infrastructure. He also called for taking advantage of opportunities in the energy sector. "But this requires legal regulation, ensuring the use of new energy, and developing new energy storage systems," he noted.
Zakeria also noted that the EBRD's portfolio in Armenia totaled €3 billion, which was allocated to 45 programs. The Bank has invested approximately 40% of this portfolio in the Armenian market in the past four years alone. "This shows that we are now more than interested in Armenia and want to promote regional connectivity," he said, noting that the Bank is implementing programs in infrastructure development, the environment, green entrepreneurship, and other areas.
As a reminder, the EBRD, having updated its forecast in early June, expects Armenia's GDP to grow at the same rate of 5.5% in 2026 and 2027.
