
ArmInfo. The unemployment rate in Armenia decreased in the second quarter of 2026 from 13.7% to 13%, but on an annual basis, it increased from 12.3% in the same period of 2025. This is evidenced by data from the RA Statistics Committee.
At the same time, the employment rate in the country also increased during the reporting quarter – from 48.5% to 52.2% (compared to 51.2% in the second quarter of 2025).
According to the source, during the reporting quarter, the number of employed people exceeded 1,220,400 people, which is 2.5% higher than the same period last year, while the number of unemployed people amounted to 182,000. With a year-on-year increase of 9.4%. By July 1, 2026, employer demand for labor increased by 14.5% year-on-year to 3,656 people, while the workload per vacancy was 9 people (a 52.6% year-on-year decline).
In the first half of 2026, a total of 4,974 citizens were employed in Armenia, which is 9.6% lower than the same period last year. Of those employed, 2,828 were women (a 9.9% year-on-year decline), and 2,146 were men (a 9.2% year-on-year decline).
According to statistics, the average hourly labor price index in the second quarter of 2026 amounted to 95.4% (excluding seasonality) and 100.2% (seasonally adjusted), compared to 94% and 98.6%, respectively, in the same period of 2025. Moreover, the wage index in the reporting period was similar: 95.4% (excluding seasonality) and 100.3% (seasonally adjusted), compared to 94% and 98.6%, respectively, in the same period of 2025. These indicators, taking seasonality into account, increased less significantly on a quarterly basis (from 99.2% and 99.1% in the first quarter of 2026).
