Armenian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson: EU Publishes Regulation on Temporary Liberalization of Trade in Armenian Goods

ArmInfo. On October 9, the European Union (EU) published a regulation on the temporary liberalization of trade in Armenian goods. This was reported on Facebook by Ani Badalyan, spokesperson for the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (MFA).

"The EU regulation on the application of autonomous trade measures to Armenian goods was published in the Official Journal of the EU on October 9 and will enter into force tomorrow," Badalyan wrote.

According to the document, the measures, which come into force on October 10, provide for the temporary liberalization of almost 80% of Armenian exports to the EU. Specifically, they cover almost all volumes of fresh fruit, vegetables, and flowers affected by Russian restrictions, as well as over 91% of beverage and alcoholic beverage exports. "Brussels expects that the provision of temporary trade preferences will help alleviate the difficulties faced by Armenian producers and exporters, as well as strengthen the resilience of the Armenian economy by facilitating access to the EU market. This preferential regime also includes certain conditions and safeguards designed to protect European producers from the negative impact of imports," the communiqué notes.

The European Commission also clarified that the trade preferences are part of a broader package of support measures for Armenia.
