Traffic to Upper Lars is closed to heavy trucks with trailers and semi-trailers due to snow

ArmInfo. The Georgian Military Highway leading to the Georgian-Russian checkpoint "Upper Lars" is temporarily closed to trailers and semi-trailers due to snow and low temperatures. This was reported by the Department of Roads of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia.

According to the department, the Gudauri-Kobi section of the Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Lars highway is closed due to snow and low temperatures. However, traffic on the road is free for other types of vehicles.

As a reminder, the Georgian Military Highway is currently the only land route connecting Armenia with Russia. And the Kazbegi-Upper Lars checkpoint is - the only currently functioning checkpoint on the land border between Georgia and Russia. It is periodically closed due to inclement weather.
