ArmInfo.In the medium term, the Armenian government plans to annually attract budget loans in the amount of $300-350 million. On November 17, the Cabinet of Ministers of Armenia approved a proposal to sign an agreement between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Eurasian Development Bank to provide a loan in the amount of $100 million.

The state budget deficit of Armenia in 2024 will amount to 341.1 billion drams (about $880 million, the estimated US dollar exchange rate is 385.9 dr. per $1) or 3.2% of GDP, against 236.8 billion drams or 2.5% of GDP expected by end of this year and 179.5 billion or 2.1%, actual for 2022.

ArmInfo.In 2024, more than 805 billion drams or more than $2 billion will be required to service and repay the debt of the RA government (calculated US dollar exchange rate is 385.9 AMD $1),  and the expenses of the Ministry of Defense will amount to around 560 billion drams. This is stated in the budget report of the draft state budget for the next fiscal year.

ArmInfo.An analysis of the stability of the RA government's debt shows that although the latter  is stable, manageable and low-risk, it is sensitive to economic growth as well as exchange rate shocks, reads the 2024 budget message.

ArmInfo.Economy Minister Vahan Kerobyan expects per capita GDP to increase to $8,200 by the end of this year. Speaking on the CIVILNET channel in English, the head of the department noted that despite expectations of the poverty level to reach 39.6%, this figure was reduced to 24.8%.

ArmInfo. In Armenia, the specific debt burden per capita by October 1, 2023 increased to $3.8 thousand from $3.4 thousand a year earlier. Moreover, the per capita debt burden increased both in terms of external debt from $2.1 thousand to $2.2 thousand, and in terms of internal debt from $1.3 thousand to $1.6 thousand, amid an increase in the population of Armenia over the year by 23.2 thousand people - up to 2.994 million  people by October 1, 2023.
