On August 21, $193.7 million was purchased at an average rate of 364.93 drams/$1 and $179.7 million was sold at an average rate of 365.40 drams/$1 on the intra-bank foreign exchange market in Armenia. This is more than 4-5 times more than the purchase and sale volumes of the previous day (August 20), with the buying rate increasing by 1.35 points and the selling rate decreasing by 0.5 points. Moreover, from Monday through Thursday inclusive, the volume of dollar purchases on the intra-bank foreign exchange market fluctuated within the range of $27-42.4 million and sales - in the range of $42.4-68.7 million, and the rate in both cases decreased. This is evidenced by data from the Central Bank of Armenia.

MTPL insurance loss ratio drops in Armenia amid rising policy costs

ArmInfo. The loss ratio within Armenia's Mandatory Third- Party Liability (MTPL) insurance sector saw a downward trend between January and July 2026, dropping  to 72.5% compared to 74.4% during the corresponding period in 2025.   According to market data, this shift occurred alongside accelerations  across several key performance indicators: The annual growth rate of  active contracts accelerated from 7.9% to 9.3%; The volume of  insurance premiums grew at an increased rate, rising from 17.4% to  18.3%; A more noticeable surge was registered in the volume of  indemnities (insurance payouts), which accelerated from 7.4% to  17.9%. This is evidenced by data from the Armenian Bureau of Motor  Insurers.

Armenia`s GDP per capita surges in Q2 2026

Armenia`s GDP accelerates in growth in H1 2026, exceeding $13.8  billion

ArmInfo. Armenia's GDP for the first half of 2026 stood at 5.167 trillion drams (exceeding $13.8 billion), growing from 2.332 trillion drams in the first quarter to  2.835 trillion drams in the second quarter. According to data from  the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, the annual GDP  growth accelerated in the second quarter to 6.7% (up from 5.9% a year  ago), with a much more significant increase in the reporting quarter  alone – by 19.2%. Meanwhile, the GDP deflator index increased  annually to 104.2% in Q2 2026 (from 102.4% in Q2 2025).
