Armenia`s agricultural exports 8.3% up

ArmInfo. In 2024, Armenia exported 144 thousand tons of fresh vegetables and fruits, which is 11 thousand tons or 8.3% more than in 2023. This was stated in an  interview with the Public Television of Armenia by Deputy Minister of  Economy in charge of the agricultural sector Arman Khojoyan.

Armenia`s government to support domestic metallurgic companies

ArmInfo.On March 20, the Armenian  government approved a program to promote the domestic sale of certain types of goods of Armenian origin, for which restrictions have been imposed on their export from the Republic of Armenia. Manufacturers  of metal products from local raw materials will be able to count on a  subsidy of 10 thousand drams for each ton sold.

Armenia has 3.4 million microprocessing cards with  NFC chips,  accounting for 79% of the total

ArmInfo. By January 1, 2025, there were over 4.3 million cards in the plastic market of Armenia, with an annual growth of 16.3%. During the same period,  microprocessing cards with an NFC chip have increased by 2.3 times  over three years, with a 31% increase in 2024 (compared to 24% in  2023), totaling 3.4 million units or 79% of the total number of  cards, as evidenced by data of RA Central Bank. 

In 2024, salary fund in Armenia increased by 12% per annum

ArmInfo. According to the results of 2024, the salary fund of Armenia amounted to 295 billion drams, which is 12% or 30.8 billion drams higher than the amount  recorded in 2023. Compared to 2018, the fund has increased by 2.2  times or by 163.9 billion drams. This was stated by the Minister of  Economy of Armenia, Gevorg Papoyan, during a meeting of the  Parliamentary Standing Committee on Economic Affairs on March 19.

Finance Minister: If there were no conflict between Armenia and  Azerbaijan, the RA state debt would be less expensive

If there were no conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the RA state debt would be less expensive, as stated by Finance Minister Vahe Hovhannisyan on March  19 meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Economic Affairs.   According to Babken Tunyan, the head of the NA Committee, Armenia's  state dept is expected to increase approximately $450 million  following the results of the 5th tranche of Eurobonds worth $750  million. In turn, Vahe Hovhannisyan mentioned that a repayment of   $313 million is scheduled for March 26, 2025, on the Eurobonds issued  in 2025.

State Revenue Committee Head: Despite the absolute figures, tax  revenues in Armenia, compared to GDP, grew at an accelerated pace

ArmInfo. In 2024, tax revenues (tax income and state duty) to the consolidated budget of the Republic of Armenia totaled 2 trillion 390.9 billion drams. This  amount is 5.1% or 117 billion drams higher than the figure for 2023  as stated by the Chairman of the State Revenue Committee (SRC) of  Armenia, Eduard Hakobyan, on March 19 meeting of the Standing  Committee on Economic Affairs, while reporting on the work carried  out by the SRC in 2024.

Activities supposed to pay VAT to be restricted in Armenia

ArmInfo. It is planned to limit the list of activities in Armenia that will have to move from  turnover tax to VAT from July 1, 2025. At its meeting on March 19,  the Committee on Economic Affairs of the National Assembly of the  Republic of Armenia issued a positive conclusion on the amendments to  the Tax Code of the Republic of Armenia submitted by the Government  of the Republic of Armenia in the second and final reading.

Large energy users to be allowed to sign energy contracts with  producers

ArmInfo. Large electricity consumers in Armenia will have the opportunity to directly sign  contracts with electricity producers. At its session on March 19, the  RA National Assembly Committee on Economic Affairs issued a positive  opinion on the amendments to the Law on Energy submitted in the first  reading by a group of NA deputies.

Armenia`s Central Bank forecasts 7% GDP growth in 2025

ArmInfo. The Central Bank of Armenia has revised its GDP growth forecast for 2025 from the previous 7.1-4.8% to an updated 7-4.5% (against the actual 5.9%  growth in 2024). The Central Bank has also revised its GDP growth  forecast for 2026, now expecting a slowdown to 4.7-4.1%, instead of  the previous slowdown to 4.7% or acceleration to 7% (depending on the  inflation trajectory). As a result, the absolute value of GDP will  increase in 2025 to 10.956-10.715 trillion drams (from 10.127  trillion drams in 2024), and then in 2026 it may reach 11.5-11.2  trillion drams. This is noted in the March report of the Central  Bank of the Republic of Armenia "Monetary Policy for the First  Quarter of 2025".
