ArmInfo. Armenia is making another change to the agreements with the French Development Agency (FDA) on the Vedi Reservoir construction project. On January 16, the Cabinet of Ministers approved proposals to sign Supplement No. 3 to the loan agreement No. CAM 1002 01 Y dated January 26, 2016 between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the FDA.

ArmInfo. Over the past few days, two fateful events have occurred that could play both a positive and a negative role in the history of modern Armenia. On the one hand, the country's government gave the go-ahead for the adoption  of the law "On the beginning of the accession of the Republic of  Armenia to the European Union", and on the other hand, the Charter on  Strategic Partnership between Armenia and the United States was  signed in Washington. 

ArmInfo. On January 16, the Government of Armenia approved a proposal to sign a financial cooperation agreement with the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany for 2023.

ArmInfo. Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan will take part in the 55th anniversary World Economic Forum in Davos, which starts on January 20. This is stated on the official website of the forum.

ArmInfo. Armenia will receive a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for a sustainable and inclusive road sector improvement project. The proposal to sign the relevant agreement was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers on  January 16. 

ArmInfo. On January 16, the Cabinet of Ministers of Armenia approved the proposal to sign the Agreement on administrative cooperation of the EAEU countries in the field of property appraisal services.

ArmInfo.From January to November 2024, the service sector in Armenia experienced a slowdown  in its annual growth rate, dropping from 11.1% to 6.3%. Revenues during this period reached 3 trillion AMD ($7.7 billion).

ArmInfo. In January-November 2024, 30,916 children were born in Armenia, which is 7.8% lower than  the figure for the previous year. The birth rate per 1,000 inhabitants for the reporting period was 11.2 per mille, compared to 12.4% a year earlier.

ArmInfo. In Armenia, the trade turnover for 11 months amounted to 5.6 trillion drams ($14.3 billion), showing a slower annual growth rate of 18% compared to the previous 24.3%. This slowdown in growth rate was mainly due to the  stagnation in wholesale and retail trade, as well as a decrease in  the volume of car purchases and sales. This is evidenced by data from  the RA Statistical Committee, according to which in November 2024,  the trade turnover in Armenia increased by 5.4% - to 614 billion AMD  (over $1.5 billion).  

ArmInfo. The average benefit for families in need today is 33,350 AMD, but with the new approach, it will increase to 49,330 AMD. Social Minister Narek Mkrtchyan announced this on January 15 during the final press conference  dedicated to the activities of the Ministry of Labor and Social  Affairs for 2024.  In this regard, the minister noted that since  2021, the number of insecure families in the country has decreased  from 90,000 to 60,000. He explained that the threshold, calculated  based on the consumer basket, is used as the main indicator for  determining the level of insecurity. The current threshold, according  to the minister, is 34,581 AMD.

ArmInfo. The revenue of Armenia's communications sector for the 11 months of 2024 slowed in annual growth from 5.3% to 3.1%, totaling152.2 billion AMD. According to  data from the RA Statistics Committee, in November alone, revenue dropped by 2.4%, reaching 14.2 billion AMD.  In the first 11 months of 2024,  the telecommunications sector contributed the majority of  the total revenue, accounting for 92.6% or 141.1 billion AMDs, a 4%  increase from the previous year. However, in November alone, the  revenue of the telecommunications sector decreased by 2.2%, totaling  13 billion AMD.  For comparison,  in January-November 2023, the  revenue of the communications sector of Armenia amounted to 147  billion AMD, with the  telecommunications sector providing  91.8% or  134.9 billion AMD. 

ArmInfo. In Armenia, the volume of cargo transportation from January to November 2024 continued to decline with an acceleration in annual rates from 2.1% to 10.2%, totaling 15,269.2 thousand tons. According to data from the  Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, the decline was due  to a significant drop in cargo transportation by rail and a decrease  in the overall volume of road cargo transportation.

ArmInfo. Moscow considers Yerevan's decision to launch the European Union (EU) accession process as the start of Armenia's exit from the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), as stated by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei  Overchuk to journalists, TASS reports.

ArmInfo. In the first 11 months of 2024, Armenia generated 8,455 million kWh of electricity, which is 5.9% higher than the same period of 2023.

The draft law on amendments and additions to the  Law and related  laws was presented by the Minister of Finance of the Republic of  Armenia Vahe Hovhannisyan on January 15 at a meeting of the  parliamentary committee on economic issues.
