Armenia`s insurance sector`s tax payments show 7% y/y fall in 1st  quarter of 2025

ArmInfo. Of the 7 operating insurance companies, 3 were included in the list of the 1000 largest taxpayers of Armenia in the first quarter of 2025 (as a year ago): LIGA Insurance, INGO and Sil Insurance. This is evidenced by the data of the State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Armenia.

FlyOne Armenia and Shirak Avia airlines concerned over RA  government`s decision

IMF`s Executive Board could approve access of about US$ 25.0mln  stand-by loan for Armenia this June

Ameriabank tops list of major tax payers among Armenia`s banks

ArmInfo.  In the first quarter of 2023, the banking system of Armenia increased tax payments to the state treasury by 25% per annum - up to 27.7 billion drams ($70.8 million). Of this amount, 85.5% or 23.8 billion drams were paid in direct taxes, with an annual growth of 26%. This is evidenced by the data of the State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Armenia.

Only RUB transactions in Armenia`s interbank foreign exchange market  Apr 21 to 25

ArmInfo. The Armenian Interbank Currency Exchange worked only twice from 21 to 25 April 2025 and only for ruble transactions. No dollar transactions were carried out  during this period, and euro transactions have not been carried out for a month and a half. As a result, the weekly trend of ruble transactions reversed from a significant 2.1-fold growth towards a 55% decline.

Industrial price index  growing with industrial sector sagging

ArmInfo. In Armenia, the industrial price index increased in January- March 2025 compared to  the same period in 2024, rising from 99.7% to 102.1%. This increase occurred alongside a decline in the annual growth rate of the industrial sector, dropping from 30.4%  to 18.5% , with a total volume of 599.8 billion drams ($ 1.5 billion). This is evidenced by the preliminary data from the RA Statistical Committee. 

Financial agreement  for construction of the Sisian-Kajaran road  debated

ArmInfo.The Committee on Financial Credit and Budgetary Affairs gave a positive conclusion on  the ratification of the draft financial agreement between the Republic of Armenia and the European Investment Bank on the provision of a loan of up to 236 million euros. The planned funds will be directed to the financing of the construction of a new 60 km long road between Sisian and Kajaran in the Syunik region of the Republic of Armenia.

Armenia`s economic activity is losing momentum, with foreign trade  also sagging

In January-March 2025, economic activity growth slowed significantly to 4.1% per annum (from  14.3% in the same period of 2024) in Armenia.  Moreover, the industrial sector, which was the main driver of growth a year earlier, is now experiencing a double-digit decline. According to preliminary data from the RA Statistics Committee, this decline was accompanied by a deterioration in the foreign trade trend, shifting  from several-fold growth to a significant decline. 

Another early placement - Converse Bank dollar bonds sold in a matter  of days

ArmInfo. Converse Bank sold dollar bonds with an issue volume of $10 million on the primary  market in just a few days. This tranche was placed ahead of schedule - 6 days from the date of issue, instead of the planned three months, as noted in a message from Converse Bank.

ArmInfo.  Armenian Finance Minister Vahe Hovhannisyan held discussions with several high-ranking officials as part of the spring meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group in Washington.  As reported by the press service of the Ministry of Finance, Hovhannisyan  met with IMF Deputy Managing Director Bo Li. During the meeting, they discussed the results of the 5th review of the IMF  stand-by program as well as the macroeconomic situation in Armenia and recent developments in the sector.
