Armenia`s GDP growth rate slowed down in the first half of 2024

ArmInfo. Armenia's GDP in the  first half of 2024 exceeded 4.2 trillion drams or $10.6 billion,  showing a more noticeable slow down in annual growth at 7.3%. In  comparison, during the same period in 2023, there was a slight  decrease in double-digit growth from 18% to 16%. This is evidenced by  the data from the RA Statistical Committee, published on August 20  alongside the presentation of GDP at market prices. The GDP  experienced a negative trend in the first quarter, declining by  36.1%. 

In 2025, Armenia will be able to import 9.5 thousand tons of cattle meat from third countries

ArmInfo.The Eurasian  Economic Union has set tariff quotas for the import of specific types  of meat and whey in 2025. This information was outlined in a  statement by the Eurasian Economic Commission.  "In accordance with  the Treaty on the EAEU, the EEC sets tariff quotas for certain  categories of agricultural goods from third countries and imported  into the customs territory of the EAEU. This decision considers the  balance between consumption and production in member states, as well  as the countries' obligations to the World Trade Organization,"  stated Vahagn Kazaryan, Director of the Department of Customs Tariff  and Non-Tariff Regulation of the EEC.

Nearly 90% of Armenian brandy sold in Russia unsafe - study

ArmInfo. Almost 90% of  Armenian cognacs sold in Russian stores turned out to be unsafe,  while almost half of the products contain non-grape spirits. This is  stated in a joint study by the international association  "Anti-counterfeit" and the Union of Cognac, Spirits and Alcoholic  Beverages Producers, which TASS has become familiar with. 

Yerevan City Hall hopes to tender for the construction of Ajapnyak metro station next year

ArmInfo. The results of the basic examination for the construction of the Ajapnyak metro station have been received and submitted to the contractor for review. This was reported by Aneta Babayan, Acting Director of the Yerevan Development and Investment Programs Implementation Office, during a meeting at the capital's administration on August 19.  According to her, the revised project is expected to be ready by the end of September and will be submitted for the final examination. "We expect the EIA and expert examination to be completed by December. After that, we will be able to start the tender process next year," she said.

ADB to provide $1.2mln to Yerevan under public transport reform program

MTLP loss coefficient up in Armenia`s insurance market

ArmInfo. In the insurance market  of Armenia, the loss ratio for compulsory motor third-party liability  insurance increased to 79.3% by August 1, 2024 from 64% last year.   This is evidenced by the data of the Bureau of Motor Insurers of  Armenia.

Armenian government`s domestic debt exceeds external debt by end of July 2024

ArmInfo. By the end of July 2024,  the domestic debt of the Armenian government exceeded the external  debt. At the same time, the state debt in dollar terms increased to  $12 billion 335.4 million (from $11 billion 845.4 million by the end  of 2023). In dram equivalent, the indicator decreased from 4 trillion  794.9 billion to 4 trillion 790.8 billion.

294 cases of violation of rules for use of cash registers recorded

ArmInfo. The State Revenue  Committee of the Republic of Armenia reports that in July 2024, 294  cases of violation of the rules for the use of cash registers (non-  issuance of cash register receipts) were recorded in Armenia and a  fine of about 137 million drams was imposed.

ArmInfo. August 12 to 16, 2024, USD transactions showed an accelerating growth, with EUR and RUB transactions showing a downward trend in Armenia's interbank foreign exchange market. Four USD and four RUB transactions were effected during the period under review, with only one EUR transaction effected.

Nine flights from Pulkovo to Yerevan

Astana Diplomatic Club invites Armenian businessmen to Kazakhstan

ArmInfo. From August 25 to 28, 2024, the Astana Diplomatic Club invites entrepreneurs from Armenia to visit Kazakhstan on a business mission.  As reported by the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Armenia, the event continues the practice of strengthening business ties between the countries by creating additional opportunities for direct business contacts. This spring, a successful business mission of Kazakh entrepreneurs to Yerevan was held, confirming the mutual desire of the business circles of the two countries to expand practical cooperation. The visit of Armenian businessmen to Kazakhstan will allow for progress to be made and further steps to be outlined in order to implement specific cooperation plans. The focus of the current business mission is on such priority areas for both countries such as transport and logistics, increasing mutual trade, and implementing projects in the IT sector.
