ArmInfo. The Armenian authorities are changing, but their thinking and philosophy remain  the same. Economist Suren Parsyan stated during a press conference on June 25.

ArmInfo. The industrial price index began to rise in Armenia. Thus, in January-May 2024, the industrial price index was 102.2% (versus 98.4% in the same period of 2023), amid the sharp acceleration in the y-o-y growth of the industrial sector from 3% to 22% in January-May 2024, up to 1.2 trillion drams ($2.97 billion). 

ArmInfo.The growth of economic activity in Armenia slowed down to 11.2% per annum in January-May  2024(from 12.5% in the same period of 2023). But, unlike last year, now the industrial sector is the driving force of growth. According to preliminary data from the RA Statistical Committee, this is accompanied by continued high growth rates of exports and imports.

ArmInfo.The Yerevan Municipality will allocate 50 million drams for the restoration of  Armenian communities affected by severe flooding on May 25-26 in the north of the country. The decision on this was made at a meeting of the Council of Elders of the capital of the republic.

The Minister of Finance of Armenia Vahe Hovhannisyan and the head of the Internal Revenue Committee of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China, Tai Pang Tam, within the framework of the "Asian Initiative" of the Global Forum on Information Exchange and Transparency for Tax Purposes, held in Yerevan, signed an agreement between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the government of the special Hong Kong Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China on the elimination of double taxation of income and the prevention of tax evasion.

ArmInfo.Today, June 24, an international train of the South Caucasus Railway company set off on  its first flight this year on the Yerevan-Batumi-Yerevan route. The company's press service reported this.

ArmInfo.Armenia will attract 75 million euros from the French Development Agency (Agence Francaise  de Developpement -AFD) to finance the state budget deficit. At a meeting on June 20, the RA government decided to sign a corresponding agreement with the AFD, the signing ceremony of which is scheduled  for June 26.

ArmInfo.The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) completed the third review  under the Stand-By Arrangement (SBA) with Armenia. The completion of the review enables access of SDR 18.4 million (about US$24.5 million), bringing total access to SDR 73.6 million (about US$97.7 million). The SBA was approved by the IMF's Board on December 12, 2022 (see Press Release No. 22/429). The Armenian authorities  continue to treat the arrangement as precautionary. The Executive Board's decision on the third review of the SBA was taken without a meeting.
