ArmInfo.Over nearly 25 years of operations in Armenia, the German-Armenian Fund (GAF) has attracted over EUR700 million in credit resources from international financial institutions, which have been provided to the country's SME sector through banks and credit companies. Daniel Azatyan, Chairman of the Union of Banks of Armenia (UBA), announced this during the opening of the forum "SME Sector: Impact and Development Challenges," specifying  that approximately 350,000 loans have been issued, with the portfolio growing threefold.

ArmInfo. Armenia is discussing the possibility of launching a mechanism to provide partial guarantees for SMEs (small and medium-sized businesses). This was stated by RA Central Bank Governor Martin Galstyan during a conversation with journalists on the sidelines of the "SME Sector: Impact and Development Challenges" forum.

ArmInfo.Russia has proposed a high-capacity nuclear power plant project to Armenia that could meet the republic's energy needs for a century to come. Mikhail Kalugin,  Director of the Fourth Department of the CIS Countries at the Russian  Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated this in an interview with TASS.

ArmInfo.The Strong Armenia Party is proposing a program to  establish specialized procurement stations designed to provide a "full cycle" of support  for domestic farmers, as stated by Narek Karapetyan, a board member  of the party, on May 12 during the election campaign in Zorakan  village, Tavush region.

ArmInfo.  The share of Armenia's top five trading partners-Russia, China, Iran, the UAE, and Germany-decreased in Q1 2026 to a combined 53.2% of total turnover  (from 64.5% or $2.9 billion in Q1 2025), amounting to $2.5 billion in  absolute terms. Two of them, Russia and the UAE, continued to decline  by 17.2% and 63.1%, respectively, slowing from last year's 63.8% and  78.8%.

ArmInfo. There is no discussion within the Armenian government regarding a withdrawal from the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), as stated by Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan during a press-briefing.

ArmInfo.  For the first time, Yerevan will host the InsureTek Armenia 2026 international forum on June 4, initiated and organized by the Armenian Motor Insurers'  Bureau (AMIB). According to a statement from the Bureau, the goal of  InsureTek Armenia 2026 is to position Armenia as a regional hub for  professional dialogue and innovative cooperation within the insurance  sector.

ArmInfo.  Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will not be able to attend the EAEU summit scheduled for May 28-29. He made this announcement on May 11 during a  press briefing.

ArmInfo. By April 1, 2026,  Armenia's per capita debt burden exceeded $4,700 This is due to a proportionate and similar decelearion in the annual growth of both  the public debt (slowing from 12% to 8%) and the per capita debt  burden (slowing from 10% to 7%).  Meanwhile, unlike previous years,  the per capita debt burden is now driven by domestic debt rather than  external debt – $2.4 thousand vs. $2.3 thousand. This shift is due  the accelerated annual growth of domestic dept (from 10.5% to 14.3%)  and the stagnation of external debt growth (from 7.1% to 2.1%).

ArmInfo.  Armenia's industry is showing clear signs of stabilization, recovery, and sustainable growth. Edgar Zakaryan, Deputy Minister of Economy of Armenia,  expressed this opinion on his Facebook page.
