ArmInfo.  The name of the Ministry of High-Tech Industry will be changed to the Ministry of High-Tech Industry and Artificial Intelligence. The corresponding  draft law has been developed and introduced into circulation by the  ministry itself.

ArmInfo. The construction and operation of storage power plants in Armenia will become a new activity subject to licensing. At an extraordinary session of the  National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia on May 11, draft  amendments to the laws "On Licensing," "On Energy," and "On State  Duty" will be discussed in the first reading.

ArmInfo.  The number of tourist visits to Armenia in April 2026 increased by more thanr 28%,  according to data from the Tourism Committee of the Ministry of  Economy of Armenia.

ArmInfo. From May 5 to 8, 2026, both USD and RUB transactions decreased in Armenia's interbank foreign  exchange market. Euro transactions have not been carried out for nearly three months. The decrease in dollar transactions accelerated from 37.2% to 70.1%, and the trend in ruble transactions also declined by 13% (from a 12.4% increase).

ArmInfo. According to the latest data from the Statistical Committee of Armenia, the country's  beverage industry saw a broad recovery in the first quarter of 2026.  Nearly all domestic alcoholic beverages recorded growth, marking a significant departure from the steep declines seen a year prior. 

ArmInfo. Armenia's power generation accelerated in Q1 2026, with annual growth rising from 6.5% to 7.3%. Total output reached 2,817.6 million kWh, according to the latest figures from the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia. 

ArmInfo.Armenia's industrial sector successfully emerged from a downturn in the first quarter of 2026, posting 13.4% growth, a sharp reversal from the 18.5% decline recorded during the same period in 2025.

ArmInfo.Armenia's metallurgical industry saw a significant rebound in the first quarter of 2026, with production volumes increasing by 18.9% compared to the same period in 2025.

ArmInfo. Armenia's primary exports are mineral raw materials, precious metals/stones, machinery and equipment, and finished food products, totaling $1.4 billion, or 79% of the total. This same category of goods dominates imports, totaling $1.9 billion, or 65% of the total, as evidenced by data from the RA Statistical Committee for January-March 2026.

ArmInfo. In Armenia, economic activity growth accelerated to 7.1% annually in January-March 2026 (from 4.1% in the same period of 2025), driven by the construction  and industrial sectors. According to the final data from the RA  Statistics Committee, this was accompanied by an improvement in  foreign trade dynamics, with a transition from a significant decline  to moderate growth.

ArmInfo.  David Kazinyan, a member of the Strong Armenia party council and former CEO of Electric Networks of Armenia, confirmed to journalists that the Armenian  government offered shareholders, Samvel Karapetyan's family, $380,000  for the acquisition of ESA. When asked about his readiness to accept  this offer, Ghazinyan responded categorically negatively. "What sane  person could agree to this?" he said.
