ArmInfo. In the Armenian plastic card market, non-cash transactions are increasingly becoming the dominant payment method. By April 2026, their share in the total volume of transactions reached 62%, up from 56% a year earlier. In  absolute terms, this amounted to 1.2 trillion drams ($3.1 billion)  for the first quarter of 2026, according to data from the Central  Bank of Armenia.

ArmInfo.  The number of virtual POS terminals (vPOS) in Armenia reached 5,877,000 by April 2026, of which 51.3%, or 3,016,000, are used in retail, catering, and service  outlets. The year-on-year increase in the number of vPOS terminals by  22.3%, or 1,073,000, and regular POS terminals by 16%, or 13,678,000,  is clearly explained by the increased use of cashless payments, which  became mandatory with the introduction of legislative restrictions on  cash transactions in July 2022.  This is according to data from the  Central Bank of Armenia.

ArmInfo. Tigran Jrbashyan, Director of the Ameria management consulting company, raised several issues related to the planned implementation of the IMEI system in  Armenia, which will be discussed at an extraordinary session of the  RA National Assembly.

ArmInfo.The toxic surplus of the Russian  ruble has transformed this currency into a heavy and dangerous burden  for banks within EAEU: the reaction is either tightening conditions  or outright refusal to process those funds. This surplus is deemed  toxic because the funds are effectively "locked" within these banking  systems, offering no return on investment while simultaneously  exposing financial institutions to secondary sanction risks.

ArmInfo. Natural gas tariffs for consumers in Armenia will remain unchanged. This decision was reached during a meeting of the Public Services Regulatory  Commission (PSRC) of Armenia, held on July 1 under the chairmanship  of Mesrop Mesropyan.

ArmInfo.  Effective corporate governance in state-owned companies is one of the priority reform areas in Armenia. This was stated by RA Deputy Finance Minister Edgar  Mkrtchyan during the annual corporate governance conference.

ArmInfo.  Armenia ranked 65th out of 120 countries in the 2026 Energy Transition Index (ETI) in 2026, scoring 55.2 points—a decline of 1.3 points compared to the  previous year. According to the Luys Foundation, this downturn is  primarily attributed to a 3.3-point drop in the "Transition  Readiness" sub-index and a marginal decrease in "System Performance."

ArmInfo.  Trojan Construction Holding, a prominent construction firm based in the UAE,  has expressed strong interest in implementing large-scale development  projects in Armenia. This was stated by Ahmed Al Shamsi, Group CEO of  Trojan Construction Holding, during a meeting with Yerevan Mayor  Tigran Avinyan. The discussion focused on urban planning initiatives  of mutual investment interest, particularly those aimed at  modernizing the capital's infrastructure.

ArmInfo.   As of June 30, 2026, the number of beneficiaries enrolled in Armenia's medical  insurance system has risen to 1.7 million, up from 1.5 million at the  start of the year. This update was announced today by Minister of  Health Anahit Avanesyan during a press conference.
