Most of 59 complaints to Armenian Financial Ombudsman's Office are against lombard companies
ArmInfo. Over November 2010 the Armenian Financial Ombudsman's Office received 59 complaints. The Financial Ombudsman's Office told ArmInfo that according to the Law on the financial system ombudsman, 14 out of the total number of complaints were not subject to consideration.
According to the source, out of the 45 complaints subjected to consideration: on 23 complaints the clients failed to apply to the financial organization preliminarily; 1 complaint was satisfied by the organization on the basis of the client's application prepared with the help of the ombudsman's office employees; on 2 complaints the clients were advised not to file any applications for consideration due to the lack of facts of consumers' rights violation; 19 complaints were submitted to the office in the written form and taken into consideration. 2 out of these complaints concern insurance, 3 concern a credit transaction, 2 concern payment and settlement operations, and 12 concern lombard transactions. 5 out of the 19 complaints were against banks, 2 - against insurance companies, and 12 - against lombard companies. 8 complaints are still being considered.
To note, the services of the financial ombudsman that has been operating in Armenian since early 2009 are provided free of charge, and the work is paid for by the financial organizations.
