ArmInfo.Belarus and Armenia should intensify scientific cooperation in the field of digital and laser technologies, cyber security, the use of nuclear energy and pharmaceuticals. This was stated by Armenian President Armen Sarkissian at a meeting held yesterday with the chairman of the presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov, BELTA was told by the press service of the National Academy of Sciences.
According to Armen Sarkissian, among the promising areas include research in the field of biotechnology, genetics, electronics, food production. "We can work together directly in these areas," he stressed. The President was impressed with the results of the scientific activities of scientists of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, especially in the field of space research, automatic identification of objects, goods and services, electronics. Armen Sarkissian noted that he first visited the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus as a young scientist in 1976, when he participated in the international conference on physics. "The friendship between the academies of sciences of our countries is of tremendous value," he said.
Addressing the guest, Vladimir Gusakov noted that a week ago the delegation of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus returned from the celebrations of the 75th anniversary of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia. During meetings with its leadership, promising areas of cooperation were discussed. Among them are joint research in the field of space technology, biology, agricultural and physical and technical sciences. "We have many points of contact. We agreed to unite our efforts in a number of areas. We will work together and will be able to do a lot for the economies of our two countries," Vladimir Gusakov said.
The Armenian delegation got acquainted with the exposition of the Museum of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the permanent exhibition "Achievements of Domestic Science - Production". Scientists visited the Institute of Physics named after B.I. Stepanov.
Armenian President Armen Sarkissian is known as a physicist and diplomat. He graduated from Yerevan State University with a degree in theoretical physics and mathematics. In the years 1976-1990 he was a teacher in the physics department of this university. He founded the department of mathematical modeling of complex systems of the Department of Theoretical Physics. He worked as a teacher in foreign research centers and universities. Armen Sarkissian is an Honorary Doctor of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia.
