ArmInfo. George Avetisyan, Head of the State Food Safety Inspectorate of the Republic of Armenia, met with Ali Reza Rafiypuri, Director of the Veterinary Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI). According to the press service of the ministry, the parties discussed issues relating to the slaughter of halal meat in slaughterhouses in Armenia, the export of halal meat products, laboratory testing and certification, and the possibility of creating a Halal office in Armenia.
The opening of the office, according to Ali Reza Rafipuri, will not only help increase the volume of exports of meat products from Armenia to Iran (for 4 years, 6 thousand tons of meat were exported from Armenia to Iran), but it will also become an incentive for the organization of Armenian export and to other countries, using the transit capabilities of Iran.
In turn, Georgy Avetisyan expressed readiness to make efforts in resolving issues related to veterinary control between countries and increasing export volumes.
The parties agreed on the exchange of information, harmonization of control tools and the implementation of mutually beneficial cooperation.
