ArmInfo. Construction of the Davidashen-Ashtarak bypass road in Armenia is at the final stage. This was reported on December 3 meeting in the metropolitan municipality.
As the press service of the department reports, the construction program of bypass roads in the capital of Armenia is carried out for the credit resources of the Asian Development Bank. The program continues the construction of Davidashen-Ashtarak and St. Babajanyan -Ashtarak. In addition, a program to replace elevators in high-rise buildings begins with ADB grants. In particular, feasibility studies are currently being conducted, within which the collected information will be transferred to the advisory company.
As ArmInfo reported earlier, the bypass road construction program is funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) as part of the second part of the "Stable Urban Development Investment Program". The new road with uninterrupted traffic will have 6 lanes 28 m wide and 5.4 km long.
Yerevan district Davidishen this route will be connected with the western part of Achapnyak -Ashtarak highway. A direct connection will be established between Chavush streets -Ashtarak highway and Halabyan - Yeghvard highway, which will provide uninterrupted traffic lights on this section. To this end, at the junction of Chavush-Ashtarak Highway and Halabyan-Yeghvard Highway two-level traffic intersections will be built. The construction includes a new metal bridge, 257 m long, over the Hrazdan River and a 2.7 km long road with 2-way traffic. The new road will be equipped with world-class lighting - LED lamps. In 2020 it is planned to build a full ring road around Yerevan.
In the framework of the "Investment Program for Sustainable Urban Development" - Tranche-2, work is also being carried out to build the Babajanyan-Ashtarak highway bypass road. The new road with uninterrupted traffic will have 6 lanes 24 m wide and 9.4 km long. The road will be equipped with internationally accepted LED lighting. In February 2017, the Armenian parliament ratified a loan agreement signed with the Asian Development Bank on October 13, 2015 in the amount of $ 112.97 million (Sustainable Urban Development Investment Program 2) for the construction of detour routes in Yerevan, allowing unloading the center of the capital. The loan was provided under the second part of the Investment Program for Sustainable Urban Development.
The routes under construction will allow to unload the central streets of the capital, as well as to connect the main routes with the North-South corridor. The agreement is a continuation of the sustainable development program, which has been implemented in the capital since 2011 and which planned to be completed by 2020. As part of the first tranche, it was planned to modernize the roads from the intersection of Yerevan Arshakunyats-Bagratunyats streets to Noragavit, with a continuation towards Artashat highway and connecting with the North-South highway. The second tranche is planned, in particular, to extend the road from Noragavit to the intersection of Argavand-Shirak streets, from there to Babadzhanyan's streets in Malatia Sebastia, right up to Ashtarak highway, and the third direction - from Davitashen bridge to Ashtarak highway.
Armenia joined ADB in 2005 and is in the group of countries with mixed (concessional and conventional) financing. ADB is addressing poverty reduction in the Asia-Pacific region through stimulating economic growth and regional integration.
