ArmInfo. The European Commission, together with the World Bank, has developed an investment action plan for infrastructure development in the Eastern Partnership countries, in particular, in Armenia.
"The European Commission and the World Bank are co-authors of the indicative plan of trans- European Transport Network (TEN-T), which identifies priority projects in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine," the EC press service informs, ''European Truth" portal reports.
The implementation of these projects will cost approximately 13 billion euros and provides for the construction of a total of 4,800 kilometers of roads and railways, 6 ports and 11 logistics centers, as well as airports and border crossing points.
Priority investments include both short-term projects that will be completed by 2020, and long-term projects aimed at improving transport links in the framework of TEN-T until 2030. As EU Transport Commissioner Violeta Bulc said, enhanced transport links, both in the Eastern Partnership region and between the region and the EU, have the potential to strengthen economic growth and open jobs. "The plan should also emphasize the importance of road safety, digital solutions in new projects, as well as the harmonization of design standards with existing EU practices," said the Commissioner.
The accession of the Eastern Partnership countries to the Trans-European Transport Network is one of the 20 tasks of the Eastern Partnership until 2020, which were adopted in 2017.
