ArmInfo. The Armenian government is discussing important investment projects with Russian entrepreneurs, including industrial ones. The Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan said this at a press conference in Moscow on January 25.
According to him, negotiations with Russian colleagues began in the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. The meetings were held with president of VTB Bank Andrey Kostin, with the business ombudsman of Russia Boris Titov and other important representatives of the business community. "We want to hold discussions with Russian entrepreneurs of Armenian origin," said the head of the Cabinet. According to him, it was not the size of the investment that was discussed, but the content; experts already calculated the specific figures.
"For example, the financing of the Teghut copper-molybdenum deposit is being discussed with VTB. The mine and the copper smelter in Alaverdi create more than a thousand jobs in the north of Armenia, and copper is among the ten largest export products of the country. We hoped that by the end of 2018, it would be possible to restore the exploitation of the Teghut mine. But there were litigation. As far as I know, now they are in the process of solving, we hope that VTB Bank will be able to agree with the operator who will lead the management of the mine operation, "said Pashinyan. At the same time, he noted that time is needed for the implementation of investment projects, and this time should be used as efficiently as possible.
