ArmInfo.The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is ready to cooperate with the Yerevan Municipality in order to implement a number of programs. The EBRD Director for Eastern Europe and the Caucasus Matteo Patrone said this on February 5 during a meeting with the mayor of the capital Hayk Marutyan.
According to the press service of the Yerevan Municipality, during the meeting it was stated that the Bank was ready to take part in the modernizationurban electric transport network, including the development of the metro and the construction of the cable car.Expressing appreciation for the willingness to cooperate, the mayor stressed the importance of developing urban electric transport, noting that environmental friendliness is among its advantages. Speaking about the construction of new metro stations, Hayk Marutyan noted that currently there are active negotiations with various international structures and stakeholders on the implementation of this project.
The mayor stressed that the introduction of electric transport can be carried out in parallel with the implementation of the reform program.In turn, Matteo Patrone noted that the Bank is ready to conduct feasibility studies and to implement design work, thus becoming a participant in the reform program, waiting for the process of state participation.The parties agreed to discuss specific proposals in the near future with a view to translating these programs onto a practical plane.
