ArmInfo. According to the forecasts of the State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Armenia, according to the results of last year, a significant improvement in the ratio of taxes to GDP in Armenia will be recorded. The head of the department, Rustam Badasyan, stated on January 4 in a conversation with reporters.
According to him, the revenues of the RA state budget through taxes in 2023 were 2 trillion 221 billion drams, which exceeded the amount of tax deductions of the previous year by 296 billion drams. "The final data will be presented in February of this year, but our research shows that the ratio of taxes to the state's GDP will be significantly improved," Badasyan emphasized, adding that all these indicators are evidence of a reduction in the volume of the "shadow" economy.
The head of the State Revenue Committee also noted that the overfulfillment of planned indicators is largely due to various political factors and improved quality of administration. "Improving the quality of administration and tax discipline played a significant role in ensuring these indicators," said the head of the Committee, pointing to cases of revelations of shadow activities of business entities last year, as a result of which tax liabilities amounting to billions of drams were restored, which, in turn, had an indirect impact on increasing tax discipline. 8.6 billion drams were restored through the "well-known case" of retail chains alone, including the Nor Zovk supermarket chain, and another 8.5 billion drams were restored through the import of cars.
