ArmInfo. With its economic dependence on Russia, it will be risky for Armenia to leave the EAEU. This was stated by RA Minister of Finance Vahe Hovhannisyan on March 7 in a conversation with journalists in parliament.
According to the minister, at present, Armenia's dependence on Russia is quite high in various areas - not only in exports and imports, but also in energy and other sectors. "In any case, dependence on any one point, whatever it may be, needs to be diversified in order to increase one's sovereignty," Hovhannisyan said.
At the same time, according to the head of the Ministry of Finance, given this dependence, leaving the Eurasian Union would be risky.
At the moment the closed meeting of the Prime Minister with members of the Cabinet and Civil Contract party members is underway in the National Assembly. This is already the third one in the last ten days. As the release
from the last meeting stated, Pashinyan discussed foreign policy issues with members of the government and CC party members.
Meanwhile, some media sources have reported that, Pashinyan, at a closed meeting with the Civil Contract faction, said that Armenia should apply to join the EU no later than the fall of this year. It was noted that the Prime Minister made it clear to his associates that the West demands from Armenia practical steps to distance itself from Russia and oust it from the region. In this situation, Armenia has no choice but to fulfill these demands, since "Russia has long ago turned away from us."
