Over 50 new insurance agents appear in Armenia each week
ArmInfo. The Central Bank of Armenia registers over 50 new insurance agents each week, Vahe Vardanyan, the head of the Financial System Policy and Financial Stability Department of the Central Bank of Armenia, said during a workshop on motor third party liability (MTPL) insurance.
He said that the law on MTPL is to be enacted Jan 1 2011. So, insurance agents can start selling MTPL policies as early as Oct 2010 as soon as the CB approves the MTPL insurance tariff. The average cost of the policy will range within 30,000-40,000 AMD, the minimum fine for having no such policy will be 50,000 AMD.
"By creating ramified insurance agent networks we may solve the problem of unemployment. The networks of the world insurance leaders employ tens of thousands of agents, who earn quite big money. Our agents can also make big money and the most successful may even become managers at insurance companies. MTPL may help us to give jobs to several thousands of jobless people," Vardanyan said.
He said that this activity is open for not only active workers but also socially disadvantaged people. Remuneration will depend on performance while success - on commitment. Insurance agent should be sociable, he should be able to negotiate and should be oriented towards efficiency.
"Let's hope that MTPL will not be the last novelty on our insurance market. We are already considering the possibility of introducing compulsory medical insurance. Insurance is always in demand and those who will realize this and will get ready for this activity will succeed," Vardanyan said.
