Head of EBRD Office in Yerevan: Armenian banks' credit portfolios have a satisfactory quality
ArmInfo. The Armenian banks' credit portfolios for financing of small and medium enterprises (SME) have a satisfactory quality, Head of the EBRD Office in Yerevan Valery Razlog told ArmInfo correspondent.
Certain worsening of the SME credit portfolios was observed in 2009. In August-October 2009 the bad credits abruptly rose in number, but the situation has changed for the better since then, said Razlog. He added that unfortunately, the situation with the bad credits is not perfect yet. Armenian banks are actively working at reduction of the level of bad credits. So are the EBRD consultants, who support the leadership of the banks, he said.
According to the Ranking of Commercial Banks of Armenia by the Agency of Rating Marketing Information (ArmInfo), as of 1 July 2010 the share of overdue loans in the summary credit portfolio of Armenian banks made up 5,23% against 10,06% over the same period of 2009. At the same time, it is noteworthy that the summary volume of the Armenian banks' provision of crediting rose by 29,31% to 839 bln AMD.
