Financial organizations favor financial ombudsman's organizations
ArmInfo. Armenia's financial organizations favor the recommendations of the financial ombudsman, Finacial Ombudsman of Armenia Piruz Sargsyan said during a press-conference today. She said that the active cooperation of the office of the financial ombudsman with banks means that its activities make sense.
Sargsyan said that her office tries to solve problems through reconciliation - 60% of the complains, which is good performance even for the international practice. In 2011 the office of the financial ombudsman will focus on measures to enhance financial awareness in the region. "We will hold regular seminars and roundtables as well as conferences involving our foreign partners," Sargsyan said.
In 2010 the office received 642 complaints: 419 against banks, 63 against insurance companies, 75 against credit companies, 80 against, lombards with the amount of compensations totalling 28.4mln: 11.8mln to be paid by banks, 7.5mln AMD - by insurance companies, 3.3mln AMD - by credit companies, 5.8mln AMD - by lombards.
Sargsyan pointed out the five most active partners in 2010: VTB Bank (Armenia), HSBC Bank (Armenia), Byblos Bank (Armenia), INGO Armenia and Rosgosstrakh Armenia. The office of the financial ombudsman was opened in 2009 and provides service free of charge.
