Unibank increases number of cards by 20% to 73.2 thsd

As of 1 Oct 2011, the number of plastic cards issued by Unibank totaled over 73.2 thsd, having exceeded the index of the similar period of 2010 by 20%, the bank's press service told ArmInfo. 55.1 thsd of the cards were international Visa cards, and 18.1 thsd - local ArCa cards. Unibank's own self-service system includes 97 ATMs and 546 POS-terminals.
According to the source, Unibank offers debit or credit cards of any category. At present 90% of the Bank's cards are credit cards. One of the most popular credit cards of the Bank is Constant+ meant for employees of universities, healthcare sphere, international and state institutions, or individuals with no less than 250 thsd AMD salaries. The customers can do shopping, pay for services or withdraw cash with the Constant+ credit card.
The borrowers are provided Visa Electron or Classic cards with up to 2 mln AMD limit and up to 24 months period. The annual interest rate of the card, depending on the currency of the loan funds, ranges from 18% to 20%. The interest is only added to the amount spent by the customer. To become a holder of Constant+, one should apply to any of the 37 branches of Unibank and file an application for the card, having presented the passport, the social card and an employment certificate.
"The strategy of Unibank's card business development is based on creation of a range of credit products for a wide circle of customers and on ensuring high-level customer service. By the number of cards issued, we are already on the list of top five leaders in the banking system of Armenia. In the near future we are going to considerably improve these positions. In November 2011 Unibank will start issuing Visa chip cards within the frames of its own processing center. With the issue of chip cards, the Bank will receive additional opportunities to implement new interesting projects aimed at raising the customers' loyalty, which will allow us to complete the year 2011 with 110 thsd cards", Mesrop Hakobyan, representative of Unibank said.
