Gallup Institute publishes quite doubtful data on the number of Armenian citizens using bank accounts
ArmInfo. Only 17% of the residents of Armenia polled by the Gallup Institute have bank accounts. Such were the results of the WB's report prepared on the basis of Gallup's interviews in 148 countries in 2011.
For instance, in Finland and Denmark 100% of the polled have bank accounts, in France and Estonia - 97%, in Canada and Germany - 96%, in USA - 88%, in the Czech Republic - 81%, in Hungary - 73%, in Poland - 70%, in China - 64%, in Belarus - 59%. In Turkey - 58%, in Bulgaria - 53%, in Russia - 48%, in Romania - 45%, in Kazakhstan - 42%, in Georgia - 33%, in Uzbekistan - 23%, in Moldova - 18%, in Armenia - 17%, in Azerbaijan - 15%, in Kyrghyzstan - 4% and in Tajikistan - 3%.
Experts of the National Rating Agency AmRating told ArmInfo Gallup's data cannot reflect the real picture. They say that according to official statistics the number of the private accounts is 2.074 million, which is nearly 70% of the actual number of the residents in Armenia (2.8 million people). Even inclusive of the minor residents of Armenia, Gallup's data tangibly differ from the official ones. In addition, AmRating reports that over 800,000 active cardholders are registered in Armenia. Probably, Gallup specialists made not so correct choice of the polled.
