Number of active bankcards in Armenia up 32.1% to 985.6 thsd over year
ArmInfo. In November 2012 the Armenian banks issued a total of 42,242 cards (up 18% versus Nov 2011). As of 1 December 2012, there were 985.6 thsd active cards versus 746.2 thsd during the same period of 2011 (32.1% y-o-y growth).
Armenian Card told ArmInfo that over November 2012 the banks issued 14,665 ArCa cards (down 5.8% versus Nov 2011), 13,016 Visa cards (up 42%) and 14,561 MasterCards (up 31.6%).
Over Nov 2012 operations with 649.4 thsd cards were carried out (66% of the total number of the cards, 29.2% y-o-y growth), specifically, with 339.8 thsd ArCa cards (20.5% y-o-y growth, 71% of the active ArCa cards); 168.4 thsd Visa cards (35.4% y-o-y growth, 62% of the active Visa cards); 141.3 thsd MasterCards (47% y-o-y growth, 60% of the active MasterCards).
As of 1 Dec 2012, the number of POS-terminals in the Armenian Card system was 5,979 (30.1% y-o-y growth), and the number of ATMs was 950 (18% y-o-y growth). All the ATMs accept local ArCa cards, 868 ATMs accept Visa cards, and 862 ATMs - MasterCards.
