ArmInfo. After the implemented changes in the procedure of compensating for the tariffs of electricity 78.8% of population received the provided compensation. This refers to the subsidizing of the payments of electricity for general public and small and medium businesses, which consume up to 250KWh. The number of these consumers totaled 601 thousand in October, the press-service of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources informed ArmInfo.
As the Ministry reports, compared to the last month the number of the consumers receiving subsidies declined by 162 thousand or 21.2%. The subsidies funds for the general public totaled 534.5 mln AMD. Versus the last month the funds declined by 366.6 mln AMD. For the small and medium businesses the subsidies funds totaled 23.8 mln AMD in October and increased by 1.2 mln AMD compared to the last month indicators.

As it was informed earlier, new owner of Electric Networks of Armenia, Samvel Karapetyan in order to support the people of Armenia has expressed readiness, on a parity basis with the Government of Armenia, to spend his own funds to compensate for the tariffs of electricity of the general public and small businesses till August 1, 2016.
As Hovik Abrahamyan announced at the Armenian Government Session on October 1, "604 thousand from 766 889 users monthly consume 250KWh in average. The Armenian Government on a parity basis will compensate for the payments of this group of people, as well as will partly compensate for the payments of those small businesses which consume up to 500KWh.We express our gratitude to Mr. Samvel Karapetyan for this", Hovik Abrahamyan said. The rest of the citizens, who have financial capacities, will have to pay for the electricity in high rates taking into account the objective situation. As a result, private households, consuming up to 250KWh and other clients consuming up to 500KWh will receive compensation. However, this compensation will be made for 250KWh.
