ArmInfo. The deposits in Armenian banks grew by 8.9% over year and totaled 1.883 trillion AMD by 1 December 2015. The National Statistics Service of Armenia reports that in Jan-Nov 2015 the deposits grew by 7.1% and in November alone - by 1.5%.
The growth was due to the rise in forex deposits by 9.3% to 1.315 trln AMD amid 7.9% growth in AMD deposits to 567.8 bln AMD. The share of forex deposits in the total deposits traditionally prevails over
the share of AMD deposits - 69.8% and 30.2%, respectively. In Jan-Nov 2015, the forex deposits increased by 4.5%, and the AMD deposits increased by 13.7%. In November 2015 the forex deposits grew by 2.9%, while the AMD deposits dropped by 2.4%.
The share of residents in the bank deposits made up 77.2% or 1.454 trillion AMD (12.3% year-over- year growth, 10.2% rise in Jan-Nov 2015, and 1% rise in November 2015), while the share of non-
residents made up 22.8% or 428.8 bln AMD (down 1.2% over year, down 2% for Jan-Nov 2015, and up 3.4% for November 2015).
In the structure of the residents' deposits, the share of call liabilities was 29.6% or 431.2 bln AMD, with the share of time deposits being 70.4% or 1.023 trillion AMD. The call liabilities grew by 9.4% over year, by 10.6% in Jan-Nov 2015, amid 2% drop in November 2015. The time deposits grew by 13.5% over year, by 10% in Jan-Nov 2015, amid 2.4% rise in November 2015.
As of 1 Dec 2015, the household deposits in the Armenian banks totaled 984.5 bln AMD, increasing by 9.3% over year, by 10.1% in Jan-Nov 2015, amid 0.7% decline in November 2015.
The interest rates of AMD deposits made up 15.07% in Nov 2015 versus 10.54% in Nov 2014, 10.95% in Jan 2015 and 15.22% in October 2015. (As of 30 Nov 2015, the AMD/USD exchange rate was 480.15 AMD/$1).
