ArmInfo. Eurasian Economic Commission gives quite conservative but positive forecast related to the economic growth within the Eurasian Economic Union. As Member of the Collegium (Minister) on the main directions of integration and macroeconomics of EEC Tatyana Valovaya announced at the teleconference Moscow-Astana-Yerevan held on February 8, the Commission particularly expects that this year EEU will have slight economic growth. At the same time the minister did not specify the forecasted indicator.
"Experts often note that the first year of EEU did not meet the expectations. In fact the trade turnover of the member-countries declined, and the rates of economic growth within the Union were negative. But the Commission's vision is different: if we did not create the EEC the mutual trade of our countries would decline more", the minister noted. As a confirmation to her standpoint she noted that mutual trade of member countries declined less than trade with third countries.
According to Valovaya, rates of economic development were mainly negative within the Union last year, particularly, in Russian economy, but a number of states retained positive trend. "Growth will be ensured this year due to opportunities offered by EEU, particularly relating to creation of united markets in key fields", she noted.
