ArmInfo. In Feb 2016 versus Jan 2016, the food market of Armenia saw 3.2% deflation (amid 5.9% year-over-year decline), and in Jan-Feb 2016 the prices grew by 2% (amid 4.8% year-over-year decline). The National Statistical Service of Armenia has told ArmInfo that the February deflation on the food market was mostly due to the 13.4-3.3% decline in fruit and vegetable prices.
Vegetable prices dropped by 2.1% versus Feb 2015 and by 13.4% versus Jan 2016. Fruit prices fell by 3.3% in Feb 2016.
As compared with Feb 2015, cereal products grew in price by 5.3% (down 2.6% versus Jan 2016).
Fish products dropped in price by 12.2% versus Feb 2015 (down 1% versus Jan 2016).
In Feb 2016 versus Feb 2015, meat products fell in price by 6.1% (down 0.5% versus Jan 2016).
Animal fat and vegetable oil dropped in price by 0.3% in Feb 2016, dairy products fell in price by 0.1%, while soft drinks grew in price by 0.1%, coffee, tea, cocoa - by 0.6%, and the prices of alcohol beverages and cigarettes underwent no changes.
Granulated sugar dropped in price by 10% versus Feb 2015 (up 1.2% versus Jan 2016).
To note, in Feb 2016 the consumer market of Armenia saw 1.4% deflation (1.7% deflation versus Feb 2015). In Jan- Feb 2016 the consumer market experienced 0.8% inflation (1.1% deflation versus Jan-Feb 2015).
