ArmInfo. On March 29, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan delivered a speech at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The press office of the Armenian President reports that in his speech Sargsyan stressed that Armenia will mark the 25th anniversary of its independence in 2016. The President noted that the state was developing amid the war and blockade imposed by the neighboring countries, which restricted Armenia's development opportunities. "At the same time, this enabled state construction based on democracy and knowledge-based economy," he stressed.
Sargsyan praised the active involvement of Armenian youth in the IT sector. "Our universities annually train 2,000 IT and hi-tech specialists. Today the solutions developed by Armenian specialists are widely applied in different countries," he said.
The President said that in 2019 Armenia will host the World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT).
