ArmInfo. In Jan-Feb 2016 versus Jan-Feb 2015, the economic activity in Armenia grew by 4.7% amid 23.6% rise in exports and 12.2% drop in imports. In Feb 2016 this indicator rose by 4.5% versus Feb 2015, and by 9.4% versus Jan 2016.
According to the data of the National Statistical Service of Armenia, in Jan-Feb 2016 versus Jan-Feb 2015, industry rose by 9.9%, services - by 9.8%, electricity output - by 7%, agriculture - by 2.5% and construction - by 2.1%. Meanwhile, trade dropped by 1.8%.
In Feb 2016 versus Jan 2016, agriculture, construction and trade increased by 56.3%, 46.9% and 26.6%, respectively. Industry and services grew almost similarly - by 3.8% and 3.9%, respectively, while the electricity output fell by 7.5%.
As compared to Feb 2015, services rose by 9.6%, electricity - by 9%, industry - by 4.8%, agriculture - by 3.2%, and construction - by 0.6%, while trade dropped by 1.1%.
In absolute terms, trade amounted to 264.3 bln AMD ($539.5 mln) in Jan-Feb 2016, industry - 194.1 bln AMD ($396.3 mln), services - 173.8 bln AMD ($354.8 mln), agriculture - 40.7 bln AMD ($83.2 mln), construction - 20.5 bln AMD ($41.8 mln). The electricity output totaled 1314.4 mln kWh, including 631.6 mln kWh in Feb 2016.
In Jan-Feb 2016, the foreign trade turnover amounted to 301.3 bln AMD ($614.2 mln), with a 1.7% drop versus Jan- Feb 2015. Exports grew by 23.6% over year to 110.7 bln AMD ($225.7 mln), and imports dropped by 12.2% over year to 190.6 bln AMD ($388.5 mln). In Feb 2016, the foreign trade turnover rose by 53.3%, with exports growing by 53%, and imports rising by 53.5%. As compared to Feb 2015, the foreign trade increased by 8.1% due to 39.1% growth in exports and 4.2% decline in imports.
In Feb 2016, the average AMD/USD exchange rate was 493.64 AMD/$1, in Jan-Feb 2016 - 489.84 AMD/$1 (versus 478.39 AMD/$1 in Feb 2015 and 477.06 AMD/$1 in Jan-Feb 2015).
