ArmInfo. The entry of the Armenian-made products into the foreign market already demonstrates the compliance of their quality with international standards. It also demonstrates consumer confidence, Alexey Abramov, Head of the Federal Agency on Technical Regulating and Metrology (Rosstandart), told ArmInfo on April 27.
In this context, Abramov pointed out the high potential of Armenian products in terms of extension of their range on the Russian market. To sell the products, it is necessary to constantly improve their quality. "The promotion of Armenian products in foreign markets depends on the approach of the economic entities. I know that Armenia has a well-developed SME segment and it is a very promising driving force of any country's economy if the state provides relevant support and the enterprises show an intention not to lag behind the world trends," the expert says.
To note, Abramov arrived in Yerevan on the invitation of the Armenian National Institute of Standards to attend the annual governmental award ceremony for Armenian enterprises. The award ceremony is held annually in accordance with the Armenian Government's decision No.116 dated 26 Feb 1998.
According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, in 2015 the foreign trade turnover between Armenia and Russia was $1.1 bln (down 18% versus 2014). Exports dropped by 26.7% to $225 mln, and imports fell by 15.6% to $948 mln.
