ArmInfo. In 2015, Armenia reduced aluminum foil exports by 1.9% to 29.4 thsd tons (versus 29.9 thsd tons a year before), at the same time increasing the foil imports by 17.7% to 1.1 thsd tons (versus 983 tons in 2014), the Customs Service of Armenia reports.
Amid the quantitative growth in foil imports, the imports in value terms dropped by 6.7% to $4.8 mln (versus $5.2 mln a year before) mostly due to the fall in the metal prices on the world markets by late 2015. Exports experienced a similar situation - the proceeds from metal sales dropped by 6.4% to $82.8 mln versus $88.4 mln in 2014.
The foil is mostly exported to the United States - 43%, Germany - 22.6%, Poland - 15.6%, the Netherlands - 6.2%, Italy - 4.8%, France - 3.4%, as well as to Russia, Israel, and Spain. In 2015, Armenia stopped supplying foil to Turkey, Portugal and Serbia.
For comparison, it should be noted that in 2014 Armenia increased the aluminum foil export by 10.9% to almost 30,000 tons. The customs value of foil exports grew to $88.5 mln. The foil imports also demonstrated positive dynamics - up 11.3% to 983 tons, while the proceeds increased by 28.1% to $5.2 mln.
According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, in 2015 the aluminum foil output in Armenia made up 29.6 thsd tons (up 1.4% versus 2014).
