ArmInfo. The amount of deposits raised by the Armenian banks grew by 17.8% y-o-y reaching 2.015 trln AMD as of April 1 2016. In quarterly terms the amount of deposits grew by 3.3%.
According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia the deposits in foreign exchange grew by 15.7% y-o-y to 1.385 trillion AMD, and deposits in Armenian dram by 22.5% to 630 bln AMD. In the structure of raised deposits, the share of deposits in foreign exchange traditionally exceeds the share of deposits in Armenian dram- 68.7% and 31.3% respectively.
The share of deposits of non-residents was 22.3% (up 13.8% over year and 0.04% in Q1 alone) to 449.5 billion drams. Deposits of residents made up 77.7% of total or 1.565 billion dram (with 19% y-o-y growth and 4.3% in Q1 alone).
The share of call liabilities in deposits of residents was 28.5% or 447 billion drams and the share of time deposits was 71.5% or 1 trillion drams. Call liabilities grew by 20.1% over year amid 0.9% quarterly drop. Time deposits grew by 18.5% over year and by 6.5% in Q1.
Balance of population deposits as of April 1 2016 slightly exceeded 1 trillion drams growing 18% over year. In quarterly terms the deposits of population fell by 46.7%.
According to statistical data, interest rates on deposits in terms of Armenian dram were at the level of 11.45% versus 13.33% in previous quarter and 15.21% a year before. (Exchange rate as of March 31, 2016 was fixed at 480.79 AMD/$1).
