ArmInfo. Armenia is the first country in the post-Soviet space to introduce Performance Based Navigation (PBN), Arthur Gasparyan, Director General of Armaeronavigation, said at the meeting of the Eurasia Coordination Council on June 2. He noted that the final phase of the PBN introduction in Armenia was completed on May 26.
Gasparyan said that PBN implies reduction of the consumers' expenditures in terms of air tickets and fuel. When asked when the air ticket prices may change, he replied: "It depends on the air carriers themselves, which will use the opportunities provided by PBN. It will be possible to say something constructive only after a in-depth analysis".
Gasparyan said that the company spent nearly 250 thsd EUR on the PBN introduction and a German consulting company provided maintenance services following a relevant tender.
For his part, Director General of Rosaeronavigation Igor Moiseenko said that Armenia has completely carried out all PBN-related procedures. He added that the PBN system will make it possible to not only cut the expenses but also to reduce the discharge of toxic substances into the atmosphere.
To note, the meeting of the Eurasia Coordination Council was held in Yerevan on June 2. Representatives of the aviation providers of the former Soviet countries attended the meeting.
To recall, Armaeronavigation is a close joint-stock company with a 100% state property. The company carries out air navigation maintenance of the flights in Armenia. It was founded in 1997.
