ArmInfo. Foreign currency component accounted for 66.5% or 1.320 trillion drams of the total loan portfolio of Armenia's banking system as of May 2016, which a 4% year over year growth. The national currency (Armenian dram) component accounts for 33.5% or 665.7 billion drams of the total loan portfolio with a 3.7% y-o-y growth.
According to data provided to ArmInfo by the National Statistical Service of Armenia, bank lending increased 3.2% y-o-y to 2,144 trillion drams as of May 2016. Exclusive of the roll over and bad loans, the loan book increased 3.9% year over year to 1.986 trillion drams.
The roll over and bad loans accounts for 5.19% (versus 6.02% a year ago) and 2.16% (versus 1.93% a year ago) of total loan book respectively. The bad loans increased 15.4% y-o-y to 46.4 billion drams as of May 2016, and the roll over loans fell 11% to 111.3 billion drams.
According to the statistical data, the interest rate on the loans in terms of the national currency was 17.94% as of April 2016 (versus 17.05% a year before). The exchange rate totaled 478.61AMD/1USD as of April 29 2016.
