ArmInfo. In Jan-May 2016 versus Jan-May 2015, the foreign trade turnover of Armenia grew by 6.8% to 918.37 bln AMD or $1892.7 mln. By the preliminary data of the National Statistical Service of Armenia, exports grew by 20.1% to 318.6 bln AMD ($656.9 mln), and imports rose by 0.9% to 599.7 bln AMD ($1235.8 mln). In Jan-May 2016, the economic activity in the country grew by 5.5% versus Jan-May 2015, and in May 2016 alone the indicator grew by 6.6%.
In May 2016 versus April 2016, the foreign trade turnover dropped by 7.2%, with imports and exports falling by 9.5% and 3%, respectively. In May 2016 versus May 2015, the foreign trade turnover grew by 2.1%, with exports growing by 8.4% and imports dropping by 1.1%.
In May 2016, the average AMD/USD exchange rate was 478.37 AMD/$1, and in Jan-May 2016 - 485.13 AMD/$1 versus 480.25 AMD/$1 in May 2015 and 477.22 AMD/$1 in Jan-May 2015.
