Yandex.Taxi launches activity in Armenia

ArmInfo. Today, on June 1, Yandex.Taxi has launched activity in Yerevan. This is an opportunity to quickly place an order for an official taxi without calling a dispatcher. One can order a taxi online via the website www.taxi.yandex.com or a special mobile app. The Yandex.Taxi is available in three languages: Armenian, Russian, and English.

Yandex.Taxi service cooperates with 11 taxi companies in Yerevan with a fleet of 250 cars. Emergency orders are given to the drivers who are closer to the customer's location. One can keep track of the order on the map. The average waiting time for a taxi is five minutes. The customer receives the phone number of the driver and the number plate of the ordered car via SMS. So far, the payment option is cash. The first two kilometers will cost a customer 100 drams and father - 100 drams per km.  Non-cash payment options will become available shortly.

"We want to provide the quickest and most affordable taxies in Yerevan," says Tigran Khudaverdyan, Director General of Yandex.Taxi. "Our technologies let us do it. The optimal management of orders helps minimizing the waiting time and the travel cost. We care for the quality of our service, so we have very high requirements to drivers and the condition of the vehicles," he says.  The users assess the service of the drivers and a rating of the best drivers is created. The drivers who will enlist the support of their customers will be provided with orders first.  The work of the drivers is managed through the Yandex.Taximeter software. Drivers can use it to take orders, determine the cost of the travel, and follow their rating. The software is available in Armenian.  Yandex.Taximeter has also a navigator with a detailed map of Yerevan. With the launch of Yandex.Taxi in Armenia, Yandex has updated the Yerevan map.

YandexTaxi was launched in 2011. Besides Yerevan, it operates in 20 cities in Russia and in Minsk. The company plans to launch activity also in Georgia, Kazakhstan and other countries. A total of 70,000 cars, about 500 taxi companies and dispatcher's offices are connected to Yandex.Taxi.
