ArmInfo. In Jan-May 2016, cargo traffic in Armenia increased by 88% versus Jan-May 2015, and totaled 6 596.1 thsd tons, including 4915.9 thsd tons (74.5% of total cargo traffic) in motor transportation, according to the National Statistical Service of Armenia.
In Jan-May 2016, railway traffic grew by 10.6% to 1024.9 thsd tons, air traffic rose by 54.5% to 5.1 thsd tons. The natural gas supplied through the main pipeline made up 651 thsd tons, 7.2% less than in Jan-May 2015. The cargo turnover grew by 1.8% to 1527.3 mln tons/km.
The passenger traffic dropped by 0.9% to 85567 thsd people. The passenger operations by car fell by 1% to 76 308 thsd people and those by rail fell by 1.6% to 125. 9 thsd people, while passenger traffic by air rose by 0.3% to 670.3 thsd people and the passenger operations by electrical transport underwent no changes versus Jan-May 2015 (8 463.3 thsd people). The passenger turnover increased by 2.3% to 1045.9 mln passengers per km.
