ArmInfo. The information and communication sector in Armenia took the lead by the level of wages. According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, by 1 May 2016 the nominal salary of the employees of the specified sector was 423 thsd AMD ($867), with a 3.3% year-over- year growth. A month earlier, by April 1, the largest salary was registered in the financial sector - 431.5 thsd AMD ($886, 2.1% y-o-y growth). However, by May 1, the wages in the financial sector made up 376.3 thsd AMD ($773), dropping by 1.2% versus the same period of 2015.
The top five sectors with the highest wages also include mining with 348.8 thsd AMD or $717 (up 3.9%), power engineering - 333 thsd AMD or $684.2 (up 44.6%) and public administration and defense with 219.3 thsd AMD or $451 (down 3.4%).
Yerevan holds the second position by the level of wages - 201.5 thsd AMD (up 1.7%), while Syunik province is in the lead with 220 thsd AMD (down 5.9%). The top five also include Kotayk province with 172 thsd AMD (up 10.8%), Tavush province - 165 thsd AMD (up 18.5%), and Armavir province - 161 thsd AMD (up 5.1%).
In Jan-May 2016, the nominal salary in Armenia was 183,960 AMD ($379), with a 3.5% growth versus Jan-May 2015 and 0.5% growth in May 2016. As compared with May 2015, the nominal wages grew by 4.7%. The wages in the state-run organizations totaled 157,732 AMD ($325) in Jan-May 2016 (down 0.1% versus Jan-May 2015). In non-budgetary organizations rose by 6.9% to 220,034 AMD ($454). In May alone, the salary in state-run organizations grew by 0.3%, and in non-budgetary ones - by 0.6% (down 0.3% and up 9.4% versus May 2015, respectively).
In Jan-May 2016, the nominal salary in Armenia made up 183,960 AMD ($379) (up 3.5% versus Jan-May 2015, up 0.5% in May alone). As compared with May 2015, the nominal salary rose by 4.7%.
In May 2016, the average AMD/USD exchange rate was 478.37 AMD/$1, in Jan-May 2016 - 485.13 AMD/$1 versus 480.25 AMD/$1 in May 2015 and 477.22 AMD/$1 in Jan-May 2015.
