ArmInfo. More than half of young businessmen in Armenia are involved in IT sector and innovations, Deputy Economy Minister of Armenia Emil Tarasyan told ArmInfo's correspondent on the sidelines the Pan-Armenian Business Forum of Youth from Armenia, Artsakh and Diaspora.
This trend according to the Deputy Minister has been registered in the country for the recent five years, when the Armenian government proceeded to creating infrastructures and finance mechanisms for development of information technologies. "The field is developing quite dynamically. Each year IT sector demonstrates significant growth. And this encourages us to develop new opportunities and directions for this sector of economy", Tarasyan said.
He gave positive assessment of the potential of youth entrepreneurship in Armenia and justified high interest in IT field with the lack of certain problems often faced by the industrial sector in terms of transportation of goods, which in its turn reduces competitiveness of the Armenian product. According to him IT field is free of such problems due to its advanced technologies. Tarasyan noted that the field is a priority one for the Armenian government and stressed that the development of the country's economy should depend on innovations and IT.
To note, Pan Armenian Forum of Young Businessmen kicked off in Yerevan upon the initiative of the Union of Young Businessmen of Armenia (UYBA) attended by more than 30 representatives from Ukraine, Russia, the USA, the UK, France, Lithuania, Turkey, Israel, UAE, as well as 40 young businessmen from Armenia and 20 from Artsakh. The Forum will be held in Yerevan between July 15 and July 22.
According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia IT field of Armenia provided services amounted to 43.2 bln AMD in 2015 ensuring 14.5% y-o-y growth.
