ArmInfo. In Jan-July 2016, cargo traffic in Armenia increased by 83% versus Jan-July 2015, and totaled 10 446.2 thsd tons, including 245.3 thsd tons (79% of total cargo traffic) in motor transportation, which grew 2.4-fold y-o-y, according to the National Statistical Service of Armenia.
In Jan-July 2016, railway traffic grew by 2.9% to 1431.0 thsd tons, air traffic rose by 49.1% to 7.9 thsd tons. The natural gas supplied through the main pipeline made up 782 thsd tons, 8.7% less than in Jan-July 2015. The cargo turnover grew insignificantly by 0.7% to 1 949.9 mln tons/km.
The passenger traffic dropped by 1.3% to 119 414.1 thsd people. The passenger operations by car fell by 1.3% to 106 256 thsd people and those by rail fell by 1.6% to 193.9 thsd people, while passenger traffic by air rose by 1.1% to 1073.5 thsd people and the passenger operations by electrical transport dropped by 1.2% to 11 890.7 thsd people. The passenger turnover increased by 1.6% to 1479.6 mln passengers per km.
