ArmInfo. On September 19, the official opening ceremony of "Made in Armenia-2016" exhibition was held in Meridian Exhibition Center. Executive Director of the Development Foundation of Armenia Garen Mikirditsian has told journalists that the exhibition is being held for the second year and the number of its participants has increased by 20 compared to last year, mainly due to tourism sector.
According to him the investors express great interest in Armenian production, particularly representatives from Lithuania and Iraq got interested in the expo. "Via 'Made in Armenia' we intend to boost local industry, which first of all will contribute to increase of production, opening job places, attracting investors and establishing ties between Armenian and foreign businessmen", Garen Mikirditsian noted.
Acting Minister of Economy of RA Artsvik Minasyan in turn highly assessed the potential of domestic industry and noted that for ensuring high quality of Armenian products within international trade certain steps should be taken. The Minister noted that first of all due system of product quality needs to be introduced, infrastructure should be modernized and a lot of logistic issues should be settled. All these measures according to him will allow presenting Armenian products in a best way on foreign markets.
To note, the exhibition will last till September 22. Armenian companies from various sectors including food processing, textile, brandy and winemaking, jewelry and watch production, construction materials, pharmaceuticals, precision engineering, tourism and IT are participating in the exhibition.
Development Foundation of Armenia was established by the Armenian government in 2015 on the basis of Armenian Development Agency for boosting economic growth of the country.
