ArmInfo. On October 18-21, the 25th Tariff Conference of Railway Administrations - Signatories to the CIS Tariff Agreement is being held in the resort town of Tsaghkadzor, Armenia. Sergey Valko, CEO of the South Caucasus Railway (SCR) CJSC, welcomed the participants and told his colleagues the history of Armenian Railways and the SCR activities.
"Since the launch of its activities in Armenia in 2008, the SCR has invested 255 mln USD in development of the railway transport. The funds have been spent on modernization of the infrastructure and the rolling stock. Over the past few years, the operation indicators have considerably improved. At the moment we are working with our Georgian colleagues to implement a project of multimodal cargo transportation from Iran to European countries," he said.
Sergey Valko wished the participants every success in tackling issues related to the tariff policy of the signatory states, and stressed the big interest in the event.
On behalf of the Armenian Ministry of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies, Head of the Ministry's Railway Department Arsen Musoyan welcomed the delegates and wished them fruitful work in addressing the tariff policy issues, which are of great importance for expansion of mutual ties and cooperation, as well as joint work of the railway administrations.
The participants in the event are representatives of the railway administrations of Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Russia, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Estonia.
The specialists will consider the progress report, introduce amendments in the Tariff Agreement, agree the Tariff Policy for 2017, determine the time and place of the next tariff conference.
To note, SCR CJSC is a 100% subsidiary of the Russian Railway OJSC and the concessional manager of Armenian Railway under the 13 Feb 2008 agreement, which was signed for 30 years and may be prolonged for 10 more years.
