ArmInfo. In Jan-Sept 2016 economic growth in Armenia slackened to 1.6% from 3.7% in Jan-Sept 2015. According to the preliminary data of the Armenian National Statistical Service, in September 2016 alone, the economic growth made up 7% (down 2.4% versus Sept 2015).
In Jan-Sept 2016, services grew by 8.1% as compared to Jan-Sept 2015, industry - by 7.1% (versus 2.5% and 4.8% growth, respectively, a year before). In the meantime, trade dropped by 0.1%, agriculture - by 2.6%, power engineering - 6.5% and construction - by 9.2%.
The industrial price index in Jan-Sept 2016 fell by 0.1% versus Jan-Sept 2015. In September 2016 versus September 2015, it rose by 4.6%. In September alone, the indicator fell by 1.5%.
In September 2016, industry grew by 8.4% (up 5.2% in Sept 2015), services - by 5.2% (up 7% in Sept 2015), agriculture - by 4.9% (up 48.5% in Sept 2015), construction - by 4.1% (up 18.5% in Sept 2015), trade - by 1.4% (up 1.4% in Sept 2015). Power engineering demonstrated negative dynamics - 7.4% (down 4.9% in Sept 2015).
As compared to Sept 2015, services grew by 8.6% and industry - by 6.1%, while agriculture dropped by 19.5%, construction - by 17.3%, trade - by 0.1%, and power engineering - by 11.1%.
In Jan-Sept 2016, trade amounted to 1.6 trillion AMD ($3.3 bln), industry - 1.03 trillion ($2.1 bln), services - 919.7 bln AMD ($1.9 bln), agriculture - 654.6 bln AMD ($1.4 bln), construction - 236.1 bln AMD ($490.8 mln). Electric power output totaled 5396.1 mln kWh in Jan-Sept 2016, including 591.3 mln kWh in September alone.
Armenia's foreign trade turnover amounted to 1724.7 bln AMD ($3588.1 mln) in Jan-Sept 2016 (up 5.7% versus Jan-Sept 2015). Export increased by 19.6% to 621.4 bln AMD ($1293.1 mln), while import dropped by 0.8% to 1103.3 bln AMD ($2295 mln).
The average AMD/USD exchange rate was 474.10 AMD/1USD in Sept 2016, and 481.03 AMD/1USD in Jan-Sept 2016 versus 481.07 AMD/1USD in Sept 2015 and 477.71 AMD/1USD in Jan-Sept 2015.
